Jade~ The First Edition

Hi! I’m Genie, and I’m thrilled to welcome you to my very first newsletter! This Christmas marks the 5th anniversary of my journey in the crystal and jewelry world, a passion that began with a simple love for these treasures and blossomed into a meaningful business. I source crystals, minerals, and jewelry from across the globe, and often hand-pick each piece at gem shows, ensuring they meet the quality and energy standards I hold dear. My hope is to bring you beautiful, affordable, and meaningful pieces with a sprinkle of love woven in!

Its all about the Jade

At the heart of our business is a commitment to quality, affordability, and a little bit of magic in every piece. Recently, I’ve been focusing on items with a deeper meaning—goods that resonate with me personally, and I believe will with you as well. My goal is to share the beauty and energy of these pieces, hoping they’ll bring joy and inspiration to your life.

For this first issue, I’m excited to introduce jade, a stone with a rich history and profound symbolism. Known as a stone of wisdom, protection, and prosperity, jade has held a special place in cultures worldwide. It’s often associated with deities such as Pixiu, the Dragon Turtle, and Qilin, each symbolizing unique qualities of strength, protection, and luck. We’ll be exploring more about jade’s symbolism and its beautiful lore in future issues—stay tuned for a deeper dive!

Let's Deep Dive:

Welcome to the world of Feng Shui! This ancient practice, originating in China, is all about creating harmony and balance within your surroundings to promote positive energy, or "chi." For beginners, it can feel like a mix of art and intuition, as Feng Shui offers ways to arrange your living spaces to support well-being, luck, and prosperity. One of the most revered stones in Feng Shui is jade, known for its grounding and protective qualities. Adding jade to your home, whether as a decorative piece, a small figurine, or jewelry, is believed to invite peace, wisdom, and abundance into your life. As we explore Feng Shui further, jade can be a wonderful first step in aligning your space with positive intentions and nurturing a welcoming atmosphere.

Before we dive into jade, it’s best to first consider the setup of our homes and spaces to foster a deeper connection and enhance the energy we bring into them. Below, we’ll touch on a few essentials:
Declutter and Cleanse
Define the Bagua Map
Embrace Natural Light and Air Flow
Balance the Five Elements
Focus on Entryway Energy
  • Declutter and Cleanse: Feng shui emphasizes the idea that clutter traps stagnant energy, which can weigh down the entire space. Encourage readers to start small by focusing on one room or a single area, like a closet or drawer. Removing items they no longer need or love can free up space for positive energy (qi) to flow more freely. After decluttering, they can add an energetic cleanse by lighting incense, using essential oils, or ringing a bell to clear any residual stagnant energy. It’s a small, refreshing ritual that opens the way for a fresh start.

  • Define the Bagua Map: The bagua map is a core feng shui tool that divides a home into nine areas, each corresponding to different aspects of life (like wealth, health, relationships, and career). To get started, readers can overlay the bagua map with their floor plan, aligning the bottom of the map (often called the “career area”) with their main entrance. Each section of the bagua is associated with specific colors, elements, and themes. For instance, placing something green in the upper-left corner (the wealth area) can symbolize prosperity. Beginners can start by making small adjustments in a single area they’d like to enhance.

  • Balance the Five Elements:   Fresh air and natural light are fundamental to vibrant feng shui energy. Open windows to invite fresh air daily, or use an air-purifying plant like a snake plant or spider plant, especially in high-traffic areas. Mirrors can be strategically placed to reflect and “spread” light throughout darker areas, brightening the space and creating a sense of openness. Lighting in dim areas, especially hallways and corners, ensures qi flows smoothly, making rooms feel more welcoming and energized.

  • Balance the Five Elements: Feng shui emphasizes harmony by balancing five natural elements—wood, fire, earth, metal, and water—each representing different energies and intentions. Here’s how to integrate each element and the energies they bring:
  1.  Wood: Represents growth, vitality, and creativity. Adding plants, fresh flowers, or wooden furniture brings in wood energy. For beginners, start with a small houseplant like a jade plant or bamboo, which also symbolize resilience and good fortune.

  2. Fire: Symbolizes passion, energy, and transformation. Simple ways to incorporate fire are with candles, lighting fixtures, or decor in red or orange tones. A small candle on a desk or in the living room can help energize the space.

  3. Earth: Provides stability, grounding, and support. Earthy colors (like beige, yellow, and brown) and materials like pottery, stones, and ceramics embody this energy. Try adding a crystal, small bowl, or terracotta pot to create a grounded atmosphere in a room.

  4. Metal: Reflects clarity, precision, and efficiency. Metal can be introduced through objects like picture frames, sculptures, or metallic accents in silver, gold, or bronze. For example, a metal bowl on an entryway table can bring a sense of clarity and order.

  5. Water: Relates to calmness, relaxation, and abundance. Water features, mirrors, or items in blue and black tones bring in this element. Beginners might add a small water fountain, a mirror, or even a blue vase to cultivate peace and fluidity.

  • Focus on Entryway Energy: The entryway is essential because it’s where energy enters the home. In feng shui, a clean, welcoming entry invites positive energy and new opportunities. Recommend that readers keep this area clutter-free, with shoes, coats, and mail neatly organized. Adding a fresh doormat, a cheerful welcome sign, or a decorative item like a potted plant or small statue can create a sense of arrival and intention. The goal is to make this space feel inviting, so energy flows effortlessly into the rest of the home.

By taking these first steps, beginners can start feeling more in tune with their space and experience how subtle shifts in their environment can positively influence their well-being and mindset.
